Womens Somatic Grief tending day retreat

We only grieve for what we love; so in this way grief is evidence of our love. Grief becomes an act of love that breaks our hearts open to the vast and beautiful landscape of gratitude and aliveness.
— Francis Weller
The heart that breaks open can contain the whole universe
— Joanna Macy

I create a nurturing space where you can connect, share, feel and move with your grief with the support of community, nature, nourishing food, song, movement, somatics, ritual and ceremony.

Grief tending and ritual provides us with the elements to help transform whatever it is we are carrying, weather that’s fear, grief, anger, shame. When women gather in community to tend to our grief the river of sorrow slows down. It slows enough for us to feel it and that is when the healing begins, both collectively and personally.

Grief tending circle elements include:

Somatics

Healing happens when we tend to the bodies whispers of grief.

We will come home to our body through somatic movement, embodied awareness and the nervous system. Exploring how the body wants to move the energy of grief. Helping to connect with the body’s expression of grief through titration and pendulation.

Connection

We come together in community to welcome our grief and connect with loss. While also connecting with nature for additional support.

Ritual

‘‘Rituals have the potency to mend what has been torn and heal what has been neglected’’

We are creatures of ritual, but have long forgotten the ways in which ritual can heal our sorrows and grief.

Grief rituals play a crucial role in helping us navigate the emotional turmoil of loss. Rituals allow us to create space to express a wide range of emotions, from sadness and anger to love and gratitude. We will be exploring this through dance and nurturing earth ritual practices.

Rest and heart opening practices

‘‘In rest and reflection, a new inspiration can be found.’’

Rest provides us with nourishment and integration. There will be herbal teas available to support our body, nervous system and hearts.

What to expect:

Our next Grief tending circle will be held on the spring Equinox. As i was reflecting on this it feels like a potent time to be honoring grief and loss. The equinox represents harmony between light and dark and helps us to reflect on our own inner dualities and strengths. Expect grounding, softening, connection, creative practices, remembering, poetry, somatic movement, singing, dancing, ritual practices, shaking, release, breathe, nature, fire, writing, resting.

I am very excited to be having the magical Susie with us who will be weaving some music and song to warm our hearts and will also be providing our delicious evening meal.

 Who is it for?

This is for women who have felt the heaviness of grief and no longer want to sit with the loneliness. All grief is welcome. Whether you are with personal loss, grieving the end of a significant relationship, the pain of divorce, separation, children leaving home, or the breakdown of a good friendship.  healing from past wounds, grieving different parts of yourself, impacted by the world or local events, or acknowledging the pain of those who went before still moving in your family or community.
